There have been some fun times over the last several months. We’ve celebrated birthdays, watch LK go off to prom, made trips to the beach and the mountains and to Chicago, and had good times with friends and family.
In this all out fight against cancer, we have been on a clinical trial drug since December. I had no side effects other than fatigue, which was a blessing. While we didn’t see much shrinkage of the tumors, everything was stable, and for that I was thankful. We learned this past week that there had been some areas of progression. It is never easy to hear the medication I am on is no longer working, but it is something I am getting more accustomed to. Thankfully, in the past 2 months, there have been 2 new drugs released to treat ovarian cancer. I will be starting one of those new medications on Friday. I think I will be the third patient at Duke to begin this medication. It will be weekly infusions, but they will only last about 30 minutes. As with each new medication, we adjust schedules to make the appointments happen. One of my local friends is excited for weekly infusions again, as she enjoys a Diet Coke while she sits with me.
Thank you to everyone who checks in with us to see how I am doing. We appreciate your prayers more than you know. Please pray for
- Minimal side effects
- That this medication will work well
- Energy to keep living each day to the fullest

Leah Kate leaves for a month-long study abroad this weekend. A friend and I are flying to see her in June for a week. Please pray for no complications so we can enjoy our adventure.
Thank you all. You are loved.
