The last three months have been very full with lots going on and lots to do.
Since the last post in August, the Holland family has been on the move. We’ve had friends and family come to visit and have been able to travel to see family as well. Spending time with some of her friends from near and far has been so enjoyable for Danelle.
We’ve also been able to have some family fun by attending some sporting events and joining the 5k race for Ovarian Cancer. The race was such a special and meaningful event. Everyone rallied behind these strong women as they fight this battle against ovarian cancer.
On the battlefront, Danelle has been strong and solid. Her new schedule has been a little easier to adjust to, though chemo is never easy. Her 3 week on-1 week off schedule has allowed her to recover more quickly from the chemo treatment. She has also recovered from some of the side effects of treatments from earlier in the year. She has been strong, courageous, and determined during the last three months.
This Friday, she will have scans completed and will be meeting with the doctor. The doctor will discuss next steps based on those results.
We covet your prayers and believe that God listens to all of you…everyone. For our prayer warriors please pray….
…..that scans show that the chemo treatment has been effective
……that the doctor has a solid plan for next steps
…….for continued strength as she continues her fight
We love all of you.
Update:
Danelle went through many of the normal tests and procedures that come with Scan Day. It was a day with some moments of uncertainty but good options for progress.
The scans showed that there were no new areas of concern (praise!). The areas that we knew about got marginally bigger, but not a great deal. But because of this, the Doctor thought it best to take another approach. The chemo she was on very likely helped to slow the cancer, but we’re looking for the best option to stop and/or get rid of it.
There are two drugs that she can go to next. One is a “standard of care”, but the other is a phase three trial that has had some promising results for others who have participated. She will know in the coming weeks which drug will be best for her. She’s a fighter and she keeps on fightin’. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They mean to world to her and to our family.
