Round Six – Perseverance

During the previous chemo treatment at Duke Hospital, I think we mentioned that it was a long day (really, dayS). So when April 18th rolled around for the next treatment, it was a welcome change to be able to go to an outpatient facility like the Duke Center at Macon Pond. Her treatment this past Friday went well with no complications and she didn’t have any reactions. This was really great news.

I know we have talked about how good the people are at Duke, but the folks that take care of Danelle during the treatments are really top notch. There are so helpful, caring, and attentive. We know many of them by name and appreciate all they do. It has to be a difficult job to do what they do, and be as positive and supportive as they are. Shout out to all you nurses out there!

Her meeting with the doctor went well and our hope is that this was the last chemo treatment she will need. Of the original spots that they saw, there are two left that may or may not still have something to address. The plan now is to have a scan done on May 2nd. This will help guide next steps. What the doctor expects is that Danelle will continue a maintenance drug to help keep the cancer away. This is is not as difficult of an infusion, though it does mean she will continue to come to Macon Pond for those treatments.

Thank you again for walking along side Danelle in her fight. Thank you for your prayers and support. He is a sustainer and he does that through you.

If you have a prayer list, we would appreciate prayers for the following:

…that Danelle recovers well from this round of treatment

…that the scans show there is no more cancer (and no more chemo!)

…that we get a solid plan for the future from the doctor
