It’s been a little over two weeks since the surgery. Danelle has been resting in a recliner to make sure there’s no stress on her abdomen. Over time she has been eating more, and more normal foods. With each day she seems to be moving around better and recently has even driven.
On Friday (March 17), she met with the surgeon to go over some post operation topics. And she explained to us that this procedure was in the top 10% of the most complex surgeries she has done. And even more amazing, Danelle is in the top 1% of how good she looked two weeks after surgery. She was really impressed with how much Danelle was doing, how well she was feeling, and with no major complications.
She then spoke about next steps. It looks as though there are three more chemotherapy sessions in the plan. The first of these three will start on Friday the 24th, followed by April 14th and May 5th. The doctor said that after these three sessions, she believes that there will no longer be any ovarian cancer in her body. This produced many different emotions for both of us. But in short, it was a physical example of the continued hope that so many of us have had.
Following the chemo therapy sessions, she is also recommending a medication called a PARP inhibitor. This is a drug that has recently been released that helps to maintain keeping the cancer away. If it proves to be effective, it has shown to greatly increase the chances of survival and reduce the chances of reoccurrence.
We are very excited and hopeful of the optimism from the doctor. We continue to be grateful to God and all of you for the help we have received. Our prayers are:
⁃ That Danelle continues to heal
⁃ That the chemotherapy continues to do its job
⁃ That the medical professionals continue to put her on a good path forward.
Thank you….
