On the 3rd of Feb, Danelle had another appointment for chemotherapy infusion. During the visit with the doctors/nurses, they reiterated that the chemo had been doing a great job at reducing the cancer, and the infusion for that day should help even more. At the time, they were not sure if yet another infusion was going to be needed in late Feb or if they would get ready for surgery.
The infusion itself went well. They had given her all the meds to prep the night before and morning of, so things went much smoother. She has mentioned that she is getting better at navigating infusion days.
The days after were pretty typical for her. She was very tired starting around Saturday and started to get energy back around Tuesday. She would still go for walks and try to be as active as possible. This past week she has even gone for a jog or two. She’s making me look bad. Real bad.
On Friday the 17th, she had an appointment with the surgeon to discuss next steps, which was surgery. The surgeon was very positive about what she expected to have happen during and after surgery. In summary (because there were alot of details I didn’t understand), the cancer seemed more “mobile”. This meant that it didn’t seem to be so attached to the other abdominal organs as it was when before starting chemo. When it comes to the surgery, this is very good because this means less tissue that they have to remove. It ended up being a very good update where Danelle got all of her medical questions answered.
She is scheduled for surgery on Mar 3rd. It will be a long surgery and she will have to recuperate in the hospital for 2-7 days afterwards. It will be tough, but this is a step of this process that has been anticipated for a while. We thought in the beginning that surgery would be one of the first things. But after seeing how chemo has shrunk the tumors, it makes why they’ve made the decisions they have made.
God is good. He continues to bless this journey. We know that he has been listening to all of the prayers that have been sent to him. We are grateful to Him and His compassion on Danelle, and we are grateful to you for praying for Danelle. We have been supported by so many of you as well. Thank you so very much!
Prayers for the coming weeks:
⁃ Things continue to go well and the cancer continues to shrink
⁃ Danelle is strengthened physically and mentally as she prepares for surgery
⁃ Guidance for the doctors and medical staff during our time in the hospital.
⁃ Surgery to go well on the 3rd with no complications.
