This past month has been good for Danelle. It didn’t start off that way. From the last post, her infusion went without any issues, until the very end. We were about to leave and her throat started to feel scratchy and her skin was very flushed with hives starting to form. They gave her some medications that didn’t seem to help very much. They finally gave her an Epi-pen which helped a great deal.
Reactions like this can happen and are not uncommon. They are still pretty scary and can pop up without warning. Thankfully, Duke had things well in hand and she was able to eventually go home and rest.
Fast forward to today ( Mar 22), Duke has a different plan for her treatment. Because of her reaction, they will desensitize Danelle to the Chemo. On Saturday, she’ll have the same Chemo as she had before, but it will be spread out over 16 hrs instead of 4-5 hrs. It is similar to how food allergies are treated, by giving the patient small but increasing amounts over time. This allows your body to get used to the drug and not react.
We are currently at the hospital and she is doing great so far. It has been a long day, but our prayer is that her body will be ok with each dose.
Thank you for the well wishes and prayers. We are so very appreciative of you all. Please pray:
…that the overall chemo process goes well
…that the chemo continues to do its job
…that Danelle gets rest and recovers quickly from this round.
Love ya’ll.
