It’s been 14 weeks since we first came to Duke. We initially thought that this cancer was going to be removed right away. But, the folks here at Duke helped us understand that it is ok to wait and shrinking this stuff down is the best way.
Well, after weeks of working to shrink this cancer, the doctors are ready to take it out.
There are a ton of emotions around this next step. It’s exciting to think that the vast majority of this cancer will be gone. It’s also a little scary to think about all they are going to accomplish in surgery. And it’s a little daunting to think about the recovery, as it will be a challenge. We do our best to keep our thoughts on what is good and “just keep swimming” (as one of our friends reminds us). HE’s got it.
She arrives mid morning on Friday and there will be a couple of hours to prep. Then the good doctors at Duke will get started and get that cancer out of Danelle. Our prayer continues to be:
⁃ Danelle is strengthened physically and mentally as she prepares for surgery
⁃ Guidance for the doctors and medical staff during our time in the hospital.
⁃ Surgery to go well with no complications.
Thank you again for everything. You mean the world to us and we are thriving on your prayers and encouragement. Thank you.
