When Danelle arrived this morning, she had her blood drawn and vitals taken, and was ready to see the PA and doctor. Overall, the visits were good. They were pleased that she had been feeling better and that they were hopeful that the chemotherapy was making a positive impact. Her blood tests were good, so they were ready to take her back to start the infusion. This was an answered prayer.
Right when she sat down and started to take her prep medications, the power went out. The wind was whipping around outside, and several areas in Raleigh lost power. Danelle was the last one to be admitted before the power went out. They were able to get her started on the infusion as the equipment ran on battery power. A little while later, the power was restored.
About fifteen minutes into the process, Danelle became really uncomfortable. It became a very tense situation as she was having a reaction to the chemo. She was surrounded by medical professionals and they were able to stop the chemo and give her medication to relieve the symptoms of the reaction.
Once she was stabilized, they asked if she wanted to try again? They would provide her with additional medication to help keep her body from adversely responding. She bravely answered “yes” and began the process again. We all watched her like a hawk for any reoccurrence of the reaction.
Thankfully, she was able to complete the infusion. Round two is done. The side affects will happen over the next 2-7 days. The good news is that she more or less knows what to expect. We are grateful she is home and resting.
We know that many of you have been praying diligently for Danelle. Thank you! God hears you! He has been gracious and faithful today and always! We are also extremely grateful to those who have been so generous and kind in their gifts and time spent to help. Thank you!
For our prayer warriors, our specific prayers are:
⁃ That Danelle recovers from chemo symptoms very soon
⁃ That the chemo continues to help destroy this cancer
⁃ That she is able to adjust to the new normal (loss of hair, energy levels, etc)
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
